1. Is it legal for me to build my own firearm?
In short, yes. If you can legally own a firearm, you can legally build a firearm as long as
you do not transfer it.

2. Do I have to register a firearm I built for myself?
Federal registration is not required. State laws may require it. The ATF does recommend that you
mark your firearm with your name, city and state. NOTE: Building a Short Barreled Rifle
requires prior ATF approval and payment of a $200 Tax.
